Thank you, Father Gregory, for the spiritual inheritance

Thank you, Father Gregory, for the spiritual inheritance

In communion with all the sisters of the Congregation, on April 24th we experienced an extraordinary event, 200 years of the birth of our beloved founder, Father Gregory Fioravanti. The solemn anniversary took place in Grotte di Castro, his native town in the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Suffragio, with the celebration of the Holy Mass presided over by Fr. Massimo Fusarelli, Minister General of the Friars Minor, the parish priest and some confreres. The event was prepared with great care by the sisters with  the parish priest who involved the entire parish community.

Thanks to the new technologies, we too were able to follow the celebration live and enjoy the participation which was great also thanks to the presence of sisters from the various communities; Sister Maribel went to represent our community.

Gratitude, joy, emotion filled our hearts which opened to the deepest appreciation. We praise and thank the Lord for having given us Father Gregory to lead our Congregation. Accepting to God's will, not always clear and not always easy, offering his experience as a true son of St. Francis, in discernment he was able to exercise the virtues: strength in facing so many sacrifices, docility and trust in Divine Providence to which no one   may ask why in this way and not otherwise.

The great testimony even in the moment of the hard trial that began with the illness of many young women and continued to increase until the sisters began to die. It is not possible to express in word the pain and distress caused by the death of numerous young sisters in the monastery: even in this situation he showed great ability to assist and accompany them spiritually and physically, encouraging them to do God's will, as a mother who loves her children with an infinite love.

Let us ask the Lord, as much as possible, for the grace to imitate and put into practice his virtues, the great trust in Divine Providence and the willingness to accept God's will and carry it out with joy.

Thank you Father Gregory for the spiritual inheritance you left us as a commitment to move forward, bearing witness to the joy of belonging to this Congregation.
